Sage Rod Blanks - 99 Series

The 99 rods were designed specifically for fishing multiple-fly or indicator rigs.

The rods load lower down on the blank, which can be interpreted as being a softer action than the Z-Axis.

Multiple-fly rigs are not necessarily intended to be cast with higher line speed as some would think. On the contrary, one wants a rod that welcomes a lower line speed, which allows for more opens loops when casting. This helps to prevent the nymph angler to address the tangle issues that are so common with multi-fly rigs. Open loops and lower line speed are key.

While the rod overall is described as being slower/softer action, the tip requires greater stiffness. This ensures that the tip does not buckle under the weight of multiple-fly rig while casting. The ‘magic’ element is created a strong tip that maintains the delicacy needed to detect subtle takes.

Main idea: 99 rods fish like 10’ rods, but cast like 9’6” rods.
