Casting large flies in a stiff breeze is best done with high line speed and tight loops. Fighting big fish often requires rods with a stiff back bone. Creating a rod that can do both well without causing undue hand and arm fatigue was the reason ECHO ION rods were created. A rod that is too stiff can be difficult do cast. Designed with three different types of fishing in mind. The rod performs well throwing sinking lines for stripers on the East and West coast, or sea bass off of Ireland or the south coast of England. It also handles the heavy crab flies for permit and monster bones. In the Pacific Northwest and Alaska the rod has proven to be the tough enough to cast heavy flies on super fast sinking lines and can beat salmon in a hurry. If that wasn't enought it is also an excellent rod for Pike, Salmon and Pollack. Can easily throw medium to very large flies.
