The Echo2 96/10 #5 features two tips of different lengths, allowing the rod to switch between a 96 and 10. What was going on in Tim Rajeffs mind when he decided to create a rod with two different length tips? Tim wanted to give people looking for more distance and or people who are sitting close to the water more ways to skin a cat. On days where there is limited wind you can use the longer tip to take full advantage of the line lifting and distance that a 10wt rod delivers. When the wind gets nasty and waving 10wt rods in the wind is not your cup of tea (beer) switch tips and use the shorter one.
The 596-10FW is a powerful rod; the rod is not a delicacy or presentation rod. It was primarily designed to produce high line speed in order to cast distance and bigger flies. It is also suited to people with aggressive casts using a #5 weight line.
