The Tasmanian Sportsfisher

ABOUT THE TASMANIAN SPORTSFISHER MAGAZINE

The Tasmanian Sportsfisher is a new generation fishing journal designed to highlight the diversity and excellence of Tasmanian angling to a wide audience within Tasmania, and to an increasingly large mainland Australian audience. This new bi-monthly magazine seeks to broaden angling techniques and attitudes that will open up avenues into angler travel, new tackle sales and boat usage.

This magazine is A4 in size, full colour and is printed on A2 quality gloss art paper with a high gloss cover. Full advantage has been taken of modern printing and production techniques to bring a high quality local Tasmanian fishing magazine within the reach of all Tasmanian anglers.

The Tasmanian Sportsfisher will:
• Reach a wide cross section of the Tasmanian angling public through newsagents and all major tackle outlets in Tasmania, Melbourne and Sydney - and now USA
• Promote travel and tourism within Tasmania and from interstate by highlighting the best angling techniques and detailing the best fishing locations
• Promote regional fishing throughout Tasmania with topical editorial highlighting the best target species, at the right times of year and with the most effective techniques
• Promote catch and release fishing or the appropriate taking of fish to ensure responsible angling and a sustainable future for Tasmanian fishing
• Focus on both land based and boat based angling to appeal to as wider cross section of the angling public as possible
• Include boat tests, tackle reviews and general items of interest that will appeal to a wide cross section of anglers

Each issue will feature five in-depth articles written by excellent local and national writers. Each article will be six pages in length and contain all the information relating to techniques needed for readers to successfully follow the advice given.

Each article will have specific diagrams and images to illustrate the required rigs and tackle. Articles will feature excellent photography that is fully captioned and relevant to the article. Articles will relate to the period of time the magazine is on sale.

The balance between salt and fresh is a key one, and changes in this balance do occur throughout the calendar. In any given issue the balance will be two freshwater, two saltwater and one location piece, all of which will highlight the best fishing action available at the time.

Techniques highlighted will be appropriately spread between lure fishing (including cutting edge soft plastics techniques), fly fishing and fishing from boats.
