Metz hackle has been genetically selected for its long, flexible stems, stiff fibers, and the largest range of sizes on each neck. The deep, natural colors of a metz neck are the direct result of years of selective breeding, as well as strick grading procedures that eliminate off-colors and low-quality feathers.
Good quality dry fly necks for tyeing down to aroud size 22-24 in arange of popular colours for river and stream patterns.Metz Necks are large with many long, narrow hackles into the 20s. Grade No. 1 Necks have a full range of hackle sizes and are one of the best capes available. Grade No. 2 Necks are difficult to tell apart from the No. 1 grade. Theyre not quite as heavily hackled and are not perfectly flaw-free. Grade No. 3 Necks may have a little more web, fewer of the smallest hackles (18 or smaller), but still make excellent dry flies. A great value.
The difference in color may be tricky to see above. The White Splashed have more white tones than creams, with assorted darker spots. The variant is more cream tone with darker spots.
