Book - Scratching the Surface

Scratching the Surface is a book unlike any I've written before. It includes stories from my life as a fly fisherman, more particularly stories centered around fishing with some of my favorite surface (and slightly subsurface) flies. Set in various locations (Montana, Massachusetts, the Florida Keys and Mexico), some of the stories are strange but all are true and all, I hope, will be enjoyable to read.

In addition to the stories, the book also contains the dressings and unusual techniques used in creating these patterns, along with illustrated step-by-step instructions and thoughts on fly tying. Whether you fish in fresh water or salt, tie your own flies or not, you'll enjoy this book.
