A WORLD OF INNOVATION.
Cutting-edge technology. Legendary design. Developed and hand-finished in Woodland, Washington and rolled in Shimano's Spiral X production facility in Kumamoto, Japan. Introducing Asquith: The most technologically advanced fly rod in the world.
Featuring G.Loomis’s design & craftsmanship combined with Shimano’s technology, the Asquith series is the culmination of global cooperation in design, materials, and manufacturing techniques. Built on Shimano’s proprietary Spiral X platform, the Asquith boasts superb power transfer from tip to hand, quick recovery, and increased sensitivity. Designed by world casting champion Steve Rajeff, the Asquith is an exploratory step into the future of rod manufacturing technology. With fast actions, generous power levels, and exceptionally light swing weight, all rods in the series excel in fishing situations where developing high line speed and making precise casts means success.
Technology + Innovation
Shimano’s Spiral X technology brings a new proprietary manufacturing process to the world of fly fishing. Utilizing an inner layer of Infinity carbon tape, a core layer of ‘MuscleCarbon’ – a base structure to improve efficiency and performance, finished with a reverse-axis Infinity Tape outer layer, Spiral X is a completely new way of manufacturing a fly rod. The patented construction process has some distinct advantages over traditionally rolled graphite rods. First, it increases the rod’s torsional stability which in turn makes for more accurate rod tracking and precision casts. Additionally, the process allows us to make an incredibly light, thin wall blank while reducing ovalization and swing weight. Finally, Spiral X creates superb energy transfer and recovery for increased line speed and distance.
The Asquith rods ranging from #4 through #6 have a sweet, easy to load fast action that falls between our existing NRX and NRX LP. The larger size rod actions are more akin to the CrossCurrent Saltwater actions, offering efficient line pick-up and all the power one needs to blast big casts from the front of a flats skiff. More so, Steve Rajeff’s taper design coupled with Spiral X has given G.Loomis a rod that loads exceptionally well on short, medium and long casts. The two-handed offerings boast exceptional power and versatility and perform exceptionally well with today's modern Spey lines.

In the modern era of fly rod design there have been few advancements that truly benefit the angler’s experience on the water. Influenced by a world of innovation, Asquith is a global project that bucks this trend by offering a new level of rod performance that allows casters to feel the rod load at all lengths of casts while still maintaining reserve power when distance is critical. Furthermore, these rods will help anglers cast tighter loops with more accuracy which ultimately will improve their fishing success and enhance their time on the water.
